Similar rocuronium bromide for I have missed a few things at the WFR-28D:
- Stereo Speakers
- Bluetooth
- A handle for carrying (I grew up with the boom boxes of the 80s, and the WFR-28D is something unwieldy)
Even the knobs for volume, mentioned the rocuronium bromide in his review, I like it. As the frequency dial it by the way no Poti, but a digital rotary knob which is similar to the scroll wheel of a mouse.
Unfortunately, Bluetooth is still missing, but otherwise the box can actually everything that makes up a modern portable radio. In addition, the wireless part has been improved. Unlike its predecessor, the WFR-29D can also connect with 5GHz networks. The connection is also by two walls still stable (my router Asus RT-N66U is a). Connect via WPS, however, has not worked out, I had to enter the WPA2 password manually.
Overall, a good development. Of the features ago the Venice 6.5 receiver module from Frontier Silicon is installed in the WFR-29D obvious during the previous nor the Venice has 6.2. This would also explain the lack of Bluetooth. Frontier Silicon has (yet) a receiver module with WLAN and Bluetooth. The Venice has Wi-Fi but no Bluetooth, the Tuscany has Bluetooth but no Wi-Fi.
The functions that were taken over from its predecessor, are still good. The site for configuring the Internet radio function still seems somewhat stale, but at least you can enter stations that are not in the database of Frontier Silicon, itself. The DLNA features are nice. The radio works as a control point, so as a media player that can access servers on the LAN and get the media on offer, as well as a renderer that can be controlled for example with a FRITZ! Fon MT-F on a FRITZ! Box.
One small thing is disturbing. If the device is set quietly, you can hear noise in wireless activity, especially when watching the network connection is established. However, since these remain identical at louder settings, they are completely drowned out even at medium volume. Something probably remember only people with sensitive ears in a quiet room. It's just not a hi-fi unit. Even the WFR-28 has these noises, but they seem a little quieter in the older device before.
You can specify whether the wireless connection should be established always or only when needed. WLAN always connected naturally has the advantage that you can remotely control the radio even with the iSangean App.
UPDATE: for music there is Bluetooth - at least in many Android devices - an alternative. If no Wi-Fi is nearby, in which one can dial, easy to open even one. This goes beyond the WiFi hotspot function. If the WFR-29D is connected to the mobile hotspot of the Android device, you can use the DLNA functions via an app like BubbleUPnP and as stream music. Is somewhat more complicated than Bluetooth and only works with audio files, but not with phone calls or the soundtrack of a video, but it works-even with its predecessor WFR-28D.
