The Vorzeigeasis of Smoke Blow make it one with their new album (again) not easy. None of their albums sounds like its predecessor, despite the fact that the basic ingredients are always the same anyway: Action rock, punk and a pinch of Hardcore. However, the differences lie in the production of albums and variable vocal style. The latter, in my opinion this time also a point of criticism, because I miss the deep-charismatic vocals of Jack Letten, who only very rarely appears on "Colossus". Instead, dominated by a song which at a slightly rougher version of Hank von Helvete (Turbonegro) remembers most likely (I do not know whether because now Jack or MC Straßenköter sings). Because I liked the style of the previous album "Dark Angel" better, because that sounds like "Colossus" for Smoke Blow ratios almost too tame. Also new are the two completely German sung songs "Zombie HQ folding bike" and "On the beach"; "Criminal" contains at least four German lines. The German texts work surprisingly well and also know through its content to please. The already older Smoke Blow Firecracker "Junkie Killer" will appear for the first time on a regular album, but unfortunately is the rowdiness of the original no longer completely available. All in all, "Colossus" not compete with "German Angst" (2003) and "Dark Angel" (2005), yet it is still a really good album.
