The basic problem of Dead Space 2 is easily recognized: It makes a lot worse but not better than the first part. Moreover, the basic concept has been far too little extended. The fatigue which already became noticeable towards the end of the first part, is not counteracted here what Dead Space 2 too much for "more of the same" can act without new trends or interesting innovations. The increased volume of opponents is rather annoying than fun promoting. The story, with its inconsequential protagonist and supporting characters is lost very quickly in common clichés and falls far short of its potential. So much for criticism. But Dead Space 2 has also again a lot of good sides: The battles are still very sweaty, the atmosphere dense and creepy - often even shocking. Upgrading of weapons motivated here and everything is visually and acoustically, as in the debut on a very high level. The multiplayer mode is a nice little bonus, which can be quite banish for a few hours for the monitor. However, the only five cards and the restriction on used only eight players from too fast, which this Part leaves uniquely upgradeable. All in all, re-quality action horror fare, which, however, does not manage to emerge from the shadow of its predecessor.
NOTE: Be careful! The German version is cut in the multiplayer mode and therefore not compatible with other versions of the game. There is also the additional DLC at least so far not for dt. Version. My advice, therefore, to resort to the UK version, if one is interested in these things.
