No further development to its predecessors!

Had the Desire X now for several days, because I'm looking for a good 2 smartphone (have 2 SIM cards) and had both the original Desire and the Desire S. My expectations were accordingly in the direction that I can detect an at least small progress here. Unfortunately, this HTC has not succeeded with this model.

The positives: The display is easy to read and the resolution is also sufficient slack off (in contrast to the current Desire C, which I had). The working speed is my feeling for a mid-range model also enough (2 x 1 GHz processor together with 768MB RAM). It is also a 4-inch model really very compact and is also comfortably and securely in your hand. There's really nothing to criticize. The design of the smartphone also like it (of course subjective).

The negatives: Unfortunately, the GPU (graphics processor) is not that great. In the middle class, there are already numerous models that are cheaper and have a better GPU (eg the Samsung Galaxy S Advance, which I already had too). Here HTC has definitely set the red pencil. The noise was unfortunately also included in my model through the headphones. When you hear music loud enough, this course is of no consequence. However, this should not happen at a mid-size model of the brand HTC (should not actually happen). This mistake I had neither my great-Desire, even with my Desire S. Furthermore, you can not set Live Wallpapers. This made me very surprised. When Desire C I could this still, due to the weaker hardware, understand. With a dual-core smartphone, however, I feel it is unacceptable. Mag Live wallpapers and animated (dynamic) widgets. These, incidentally, are also no longer available (only static). The elimination of the 4 sensor key (for other settings, for example, in an app) also has the consequence that I could not make any changes in the status or the notification Stones at WhatsApp since WhatsApp does not offer its own virtual setting button. For me also very humbling and annoying.

Conclusion: The Desire X is in principle not a bad device, but sometimes even a throwback to the direct predecessor Desire S, which has convinced me definitely more. I miss the development of a model series, the HTC has helped in principle to the rise in the smartphone scene. Some negative points I feel personally even as very annoying, so I can not provide strong buy recommendation for this model. For people who can come to terms with the aforementioned compromises, it may still be an interesting device. For someone like me who has already had a lot of smart phones and thus can make direct comparisons, however, it is rather a unit of many and is clearly in the mass below. In the middle class, I had in recent months significantly improved devices, which were partly cheaper or only slightly more expensive than the Desire X.

This mind of someone who looks at more than HTC fan. Hopefully HTC takes criticism for more models of this series to the heart, otherwise one can give oneself successor of that name. My personal opinion!
