Use the lens on my Sony A99. I'm surprised in a positive sense. Raises very nice pictures from. All focal lengths at f2.8 result photos with good contrast and sharpness. Autofocus is fast enough and sits only about 2mm minimum focus distance is too far back, thus corrected on the fly with the A99. But since my lenses from Sony are not any better, but more expensive. Very nice is also the processing, everything feels dibasic. The ring for adjusting the focal length can be adjusted absolutely smoothly, while also offering just the right resistance. The focus ring is pleasantly smooth and allows very accurate focusing, it may be only a tad wider for my taste. The aperture problem does not show up in my copy. Only two points bother me: At 70mm, the sharpness is slightly lower than in the rest of the zoom range. But drops to just under full view. Then there's the price. Why is the version so expensive for Sony? Canon and Nikon do not get the image stabilization, Sony understandably. But where is the difference in price? Tamron omits something and you pay for it anyway. That's a bit naughty.
