The lens hood EW-83H, planned for the EF 24-105 lens allows excellent results to at the EF 17-40 Lens when using cameras with crop factor 1.57. There occur here produce no shadowing and the hood has been designed for slimmer built than in the EF 17-40 enclosed Gegnlichtblende EW-83E. The H version enables again better protection against stray light, the closer image circle of cameras with crop factor makes it possible.
The lens hood is simply screwed onto the intended outer bayonet and "snap" slightly, but directly. If even wear out the plastic bayonet on the lens hood easily and thus allow the hood to turn too easily, respectively twist, can be a solution by means of a simple adhesive strip (Tesa or similar). Actually, it is not necessary to remove the lens hood; unless you use very small compact camera bags.
