horrible science fiction

The theme is very classic a young woman was murdered by one of the men making love to her because she found a Roman treasure.
It could have been great, but the investigation is conducted by Acting Commissioner careerist and incompetent who accumulates false trails and blunders at the point of sending an innocent man in a coma to lather and accumulate preventable deaths.
The big boss aware of the dangerous incompetence yard to head of the crime squad (especially since it will calm the press) will keep his post for his darling (Lynley) can sleep with !!!! !!!!
You really believe that this is happening like that in the upper echelons of London police?
