This is my first smartphone, if you take out of the Samsung S5230 Star Smartphone attempt aside, which I can call my own.
As compared to the One S is a Samsung Galaxy Note my wife.
First, I must say quite clearly that the optics (a matter of taste) and of course the haptics are a very big plus for this device.
That makes the One S still more than the iPhone 4 (S) competition.
By contrast, the Galaxy Note my wife some acts "cheaper", the quality is absolutely right here.
Plastic and aluminum each have advantages and disadvantages, but that should not be the subject of my review.
(From Lackabplatzern I am spared until now fortunately)
Also knows how to please the flatterer in terms of speed / usability.
There is nothing to shake off since chops anything because nothing jerky ... absolutely great.
HTC Sense acts not simply mounted but refines the phone at the places where it is necessary to improve the usability yet.
The Galaxy Note is compared in the 2.3.6 and the 4.0.3 version of Android some part jerky and not quite as smooth as the One S.
Leaving aside time on the display size of the note is also here the point to the One S.
The camera is great and does what it should. Clear I'm not talking about photos of an SLR, though the photos are reasonable.
The Galaxy Note is comparable here. For me, the camera option is anyway rather gimmick.
With the built-in battery and the non-expandable memory I personally have no problem. Nevertheless, I see as the Galaxy Note at an advantage.
The energy consumption of smartphones I think is fine. If I'm doing little with the part, I'm 4 days ago. For intensive use, it is something more like 24 hours. Since the whole Smartphones take very little.
Actually, you might think you really have to do it with the perfect phone. However, there are also things I do not like.
First, the reception quality in general and on the telephone and secondly, the AMOLED display.
Somehow, it can not be that a 70 euro phone (Sony Ericsson Cedar) has better reception and better voice quality than a 480 euro expensive luxury class smartphone. The HTC One S rushes the phone. Sometimes more, sometimes less noisy. Annoying! In comparison, the SE Cedar or even the Galaxy Notes noise is not in the same network and the same place! Sorry but that's not so! For a phone that still has as main task the call, an absolute no-go, and thus there is a star less.
Even I can not understand why you have installed an AMOLED display with dot matrix matrix in this resolution.
In dark image content you see the grainy fog clear. On the other hand the display of Galaxy Notes just looks much better.
However, it is still bearable because the display is otherwise the contrast and colorfulness pretty neat.
Leaving the reception problem and the voice quality outside before, the HTC One S is a quite successful smartphone.
However, 480 euros are for the offered too much, 400 euros would make it better.
As far as me.
