Iiro Rantala did not invent the Solo Piano new, he has added to it a wonderful, emotional and very melodic idea. Lost Hero is a tribute to great artists, Rantala is capable (alone requires admiration) himself into play in the style and music of the honored predecessors. And not just in the studio, he is in concert at least as convincing (who can hear him live, should go absolutely! A very rare and touching pleasure). Two pieces I would take to the island: the low humming of Jaco Pastorius (the technical trick: he plays crosswise) and "Tears for Esbjörn" that can feel the deep grief over the loss of Esbjörn Svensson. Who likes it funny the older trio recordings should not be missed. Iiro Rantala is great, I think he is in his so sympathetic way of playing a lot of fans will find. Five stars for the music and especially for the idea.
