First Impression:
The camera is very small and compact and fits comfortably in your hand. All operating buttons are clearly arranged and easily accessible. The small wheel with adjusting the individual modes can be turned a little hard, but I did not find as bad as the chance that you accidentally changing anything is very low!
The menu navigation is intuitive and basically self-explanatory and much clearer than z. B. with the Panasonic Lumix TZ41 which I could test recently (the Lumix is also quite a good camera, but I found them more complicated thing menu and service terms) ,
Image Quality:
After unpacking, I briefly charged the battery, and then first made a whole series of test images. I'm generally a fan of Canon cameras (This is already my fourth) as they offer a very good image quality, and the SX270HS is no exception. Rich, vibrant colors and very little noise, as well as good at less light. Of course, the image quality can not keep up with my Canon 1000D, but I did not expect (and I think everyone should be clear that in a small compact camera can never expect equally outstanding results and allowed as with an SLR!). Very positive is that the camera makes even at full zoom even very sharp and clear images of the built-in image stabilizer works because really good!
Also I liked that there is only a minimal shutter lag so that the camera also for quick and spontaneous shots is (with some other cameras, the shutter lag significantly longer and because the time has wanted to hold on to you then already over).
The SX270HS features Scene Modes: Portrait, Smart Shutter (with face detection), high-speed continuous shooting (takes up to 7 high-speed images in full resolution on), Handheld Night Scene (Beautiful Night Scene / Portrait shots), Underwater (Low Underwater motifs in natural colors), snow (natural-looking photographs of motives in the snow), fireworks (fireworks shots in vibrant colors), macro mode. A fish-eye effect is also available.
Plus program mode, TV (shutter priority), AV (aperture priority), Manual mode and the so-called discrete mode come be disabled when the flash and sound for discrete photography.
Really useful feature is the Live Mode in which you carry out various changes to the image quality and effects and can see the effects live on the screen. Setting options are: Dark Light; Neutral alive; Cold Warm.
Video quality:
The two test videos I've done both picture and sound quality were perfect. Because you really do not need a camcorder more ...; o)
Battery:
It is true that this is not quite as long persevere as one would wish, but as I read now, this problem can be resolved with a yes Firmware update. I'm going to still get a replacement battery as this already is for me one of each camera (just photographed or filming anyway usually quite a lot and there is even the best battery times limp do on holiday or on special occasions). The charger for the battery is incidentally included (worth noting as this in some other manufacturers such. B. Panasonic is not the case).
Conclusion:
I am excited about the SX270HS, and would recommend them to anyone who makes for a small always-top camera examines the much zoom and offers high-quality photos!
