The Dark Knight (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard had already created with their work on "Batman Begins" an incredibly dense and atmospheric work, full of feeling. With the music the best film of the year or even the last few years they now created perfect development of the scores. In addition to the old themes and elements, used both new motifs for Joker and Harvey Dent, the central characters in the film.

Start doing the CD with the disturbing "Why So Serious?". In my opinion one of the most brilliant cues on the CD, but most (especially those who do not know the movie, or are not open to new music) are wondering what this has to do with music track. The one sound, the permanent ups and downs, sometimes distorted, sometimes loud, sometimes pulling softly through the piece will not award the most. But in this design is the genius of music. Room has managed an incredible achievement, because what composer manages already with a sound probably the most diverse characters in the Batman universe to describe? Actually, no! Some will view this as an art (like me!), Other than creative loose scrap. This is but mainly because some have been looking forward to a theme rich orchestration and "Batman Begins" do not know, thereby the part a- tonal score does not suit all.
With "IZM Not A Hero" but comes again added more melody. An exciting mix of new material and the old Batman theme. One of the highlights on the CD.
Track 3 is the introduction to the second main theme of the scores: "Harvey Two Face". This design was arranged by James Newton Howard and has some similarities with "I Am Legend", but it shows only very rarely. Otherwise, this is an unusually harmonious and beautiful suite full of feeling and dedication to the character Harvey Dent.
In "aggressive expansion" But it is again dramatic and bombastic to the point.
Another highlight is "Like A Dog Chasing Cars" is. One of the most dramatic pieces in the soundtrack!
Even the intense and tense "Agent Of Chaos" is a treat when a rumgeht to the scene from the movie in my head. This track drives the voltage incredibly well on and on until it runs out to the climax.
In "And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad" and "Introduce A Little Anarchy" we hear the powerful and great Batman Action theme, from the trailers that I could personally hear the whole day.
"Watch The World Burn" is a nerve-wracking pieces, exactly like the corresponding scene and "A Dark Knight" is a 16 minute (!) Mixture of the end credits and the thrilling final which fades beautifully in the Batman theme.

It should be noted that the music is based on very predecessors and actually remained almost exactly the same from the style. As already mentioned the score works best when you know the movie, because it is very adapted to what is happening on the screen and this support through the dark, serious and dangerous atmosphere in which to set up my hackles. And with 70 minutes to get a good cross-section from the complete film score.

For Special Edition: The bonus tracks are all very well done. Especially the new score pieces that are two hours of film music together with the normal soundtrack. In particular, the recent introduction of Joker theme The Bank Robbery [Prologue] "is a great new variation of Why So Serious?" In Buyer Beware "the action theme again and YouŽre Gonna Love Me sounds" is the soundtrack of the scene in which Rachel rushes out of the skyscraper and Batman saves her. Also a great title from the final is on the second CD: We Are Tonight's Entertainment ".
Especially good is also the End Suite A Watchful Guardian ". The techno remixes are interesting and nice to listen, but to score they do not really fit ...

Room and Howard again succeeded a brilliant piece of film music that fascinates me again and again! I never thought that you can add sound to the bat man so serious and dark. But these two top composers have managed and well deserved in my opinion an Oscar for this demanding work. Who "Batman Begins" was good, which is love "The Dark Knight".
