Virgin Records has released a new best-of compilation of Genesis. The titled with R-Kive box set contains three CDs, on which there are the greatest hits of the band Genesis story and three titles of the band members Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and Steve Hackett. The order of the songs in isolation of, by whom it is to be presented in chronological order so you can get the one hand, the musical development of Genesis, but also the members of Genesis or in some cases later ex-members like to follow a timeline. The songs of Genesis are the listener of course already known and unfortunately all this compilation also offers no surprises in the form of Maxi versions of old classics like Land Of Confusion, Tonight Tonight Tonight or Invisible Touch. Instead you get here the famous recordings of single or album tracks heard. The idea also three solo pieces of various members of the band with integrating in this compilation is interesting at first glance. However, these foreign titles interrupt then repeatedly the musical development river, on which the Genesis fan just wants to be just drive. And then there is the further that the selection of solo pieces, the singer is certainly debatable. So you have, for example, with Phil Collins on classics such as I Wish It Would Rain Down, Another Day In Paradise or Sussudio waived at Mike & The Machanics the groundbreaking All I Need Is A Miracle or World Of Mouth absent in Peter Gabriel waits you vain for Sledgehammer, Big Time, or the splendid duet with Kate Bush Dont Give Up. But these few comments have the problem of R-Kive recognize. All of them, both Genesis and the musicians a solo career, to many classic and sellers have published, as that would cope with this kind of publishing them. Here one would have to concentrate on the musical career of Genesis and to enrich these with some rare and sought-after gems of the band's history. Because you can solo songs once outside before, so you have available with R-Kive a stripped down version of the previous The Platinum Collection Genesis CD box. R-Kive has thus become the musical cocktail, in which you can help but never quite while of consuming a somewhat disturbing side taste. For newcomers to the music and the story of Genesis and the band members this boxset is certainly very good suitable, but we must probably safely assume that there will be of precisely these newcomers in this day and age is no longer really a lot. However, the Booklet of boxset is quite nice succeeded, because in this you have the cover of the album releases, from which the respective titles were taken, each mapped to a booklet page and also there is an interesting detailed preface by Craig McLean.
