For "The Expedition" Kamelot have recorded on their New Allegiance- Tour 2000 in Greece and in Germany concerts. They provide a good overview of their work to date. The then current masterpiece "The Fourth Legacy" takes place in the song selection particularly strong consideration, but it is also older material, even "Call of the Sea" from the very first album "Eternity", represented. Of course, Kamelot specialize in fast numbers. And so begins "The Expedition" also equal the banger "Until Kingdom Come", which impressed as all songs by the captivating live sound and good mixing. The double bass drummer Casey Grillo of fireworks is phenomenal and is better and more concise than over to the studio recordings. Playing together Kamelot live on an extremely high level: Younglood (g), Barry (b) and Grillo (drums) together insanely tight and precise. These Khan sings in absolute top form, copes easily the ecstatic heights of melody accented compositions, and especially its variations from the studio recordings are impressive. On Tour Kamelot always have a great keyboardist there - here it is Günter Werno by Vanden Plas, who's doing great. Especially memorable are the virtuosic interplay of keyboards and guitar in "Millennium" and additional keyboard voices in "The Fourth Legacy" opposite the album version. The up-tempo numbers "Until Kingdom Come", "Millennium" and "The Fourth Legacy" are played perfectly, powerful and expressive. Of course, also slower numbers are represented as "Call of the Sea": Here Khan and Youngblood make the middle before the band while weitergejammt vigorously; and then brings Khan in the audience, as it has "The sea is calling me" to sing - the touch with the enthusiastic fans is just right. Especially popular Khan makes the German public then also with "Nochmaaal, please already!". An addition is also included on the CD: "Nights of Arabia" is initiated with an intro and Arabic sounds, followed by Khan cooler announcement "Okay, you wanted one more - we give you in 1001". Most impressive is the performance of "A Sailorman's Hymn". What's on the album an acoustic ballad, wearing Kamelot here as a power ballad before: A powerful chorus, supported by an atmospheric soundscape and with a tremendous amount of feeling. Khan Sangesleistung is here on the absolute highlight and is strongly reminiscent Queensryches Geoff Tate to "Rage For Order" - times. The 60 minutes of the CD consist of the live songs and three bonus tracks together: the instrumental "We Three Kings", the ballad "One Day" and especially with radio "We Are Not Separate" from '97 "Dominion" album, but of Khan sung in 2000 (in the original, it is still his predecessor Mark Vanderbilt). Rounding out the live album of a highly successful artwork, many tour photos and all lyrics. My recommendation: "The Expedition" as the "Best Of" the band until "Fourth Legacy" - Album and the albums "Karma" and "Epica" that came after, the same fully - as part of each song on the Greatest Hits of band.
