Now, new ways has denied certainly with this album Karat. Overall, falls on the same that the carat music has become more contemporary, in the style of current, modern German pop productions. What in this case does not mean, fortunately, that the new Karat album sinks in Popgedudel pabulum. Because for the craftsmanship, compositional and textual quality is too high. The twelve new numbers of the disc are all clearly audible, real low points, I can not recognize. The mood of the CD is more thoughtful and fairly quiet. Overall, the album acts stringently and very homogeneous, it also brings with it the danger that the plate some listeners could possibly seem a bit monotonous. Really rocking it will never actually (here I must admit that I would have finally back liked a little more rock). But the modern, pop production, the complex arrangements and the lyrical quality also prevent you can put this Karat album in the pop-corner, as in some of the last carat albums sometimes was a hair's breadth of the case.
As written, I can not make real low points, so there is no title, where I need to continue to tilt. When my personal favorites I would the title "You do not know what love is" (a great piano / strings ballad, the music of old carat days - about titles like "I love you" or "the way home" - recalls) , "Friends" (great text and catchy chorus), "soul ships", "Say how long have" (the musical borrowings from "Blue Planet" takes, at least in terms of instrumentation) and "Memories" (with a great text, catchy melody and an ingenious Bernd Romans guitar solo) call. Sure many will also vocal duet pleased with Gregor Meyle (The Meyle song "Shall I set you free" is in my opinion even the first flawless Cover Title on a regular Karat album ever). Where I just got back from "singing" speech: Claudius has evolved considerably as a singer!
Sound technically the album is perfectly implemented, at the seasoned producer Ingo Politz also no wonder. All elements of the arrangements are clearly heard and give a coherent, transparent sound image.
Very modern and appealing way, comes from the artwork. The cover photo on which the five musicians in an old (factory?) - Pose hall, looks already top. However, the booklet is designed very contemporary and offers all the lyrics and important information about the production (eg guest musicians, authors, etc.). The whole course there in the noble Digipak.
In conclusion remains to be said: I would hope that the new Karat album finds the attention that it deserves. Oh, and of course last but not least: Happy 40th Birthday ribbon, carats!
