Yet before his "consecration", Lemaitre had already shown much talent in his previous novels, although for my taste, a penchant for violent scenes, trimming a little too predictable, systematic plot twists and characters to the character often forced , weakened a little "Alex", "careful work" and "Dress married."
However, its Polar "social" "Black Frames" was close to excellence.
This is achieved today with "Sacrifice" which closes the "trilogy Verhoeven."
The violence is there, but contained, the characters are not "larger than life" (which might seem paradoxical given that the measure 1m45 hero), but of course in torment of the soul.
The plot is well done, in a style that puts this author well above the needy cluttering gender. The story is addictive, dry, nervous, detached and ironic. Verhoeven The Commander has the thickness that suits and race to the bottom makes the fragile and moving. The "bad guy" is cynical desire and a "wrong-thinking" as funny as chilling.
This time without reservation, the French Polar may have found Lemaitre.
NB. Being a trilogy, it is preferable (but not essential) to start with the 2 previous volumes this one.
