Robert Schumann (1810-1856) had the reputation of being a poor composer and orchestrator and was often derided by both his contemporaries by his successors so that some of its performers (including Mahler) wines are allowed to be the "correct ". John Eliot Gardiner and his Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique give us a reference version. This integral meets all the symphonies composed by Schumann: Symphony "Zwickau", the four symphonies whose two versions of the 4th, separated by a decade and the beautiful concerto for four horns and orchestra. The incursion of "baroqueux" John Eliot Gardiner schumanien in the universe is absolutely not anachronistic. 1. It shows conscious Urtext and plays the partition Schummann, only the score but also the entire score and that makes the difference: it is far off target orchestrations that distorted interpretation of these four symphonies. 2. He left the staff used by orchestras in the late nineteenth century and uses a workforce that is one used in the 1840 Schumann in Leipzig, allowing it to combine mobility and presence of orchestral detail: his symphonies see return their fantasy and their original poetry, disfigured to be played as the last symphonies of Beethoven and Schubert. Each piece is illuminated by the superb sound alchemy of strings, woodwinds and winds.
