I already knew Carole Martinez with Domaine Muttering, but I admit I much preferred The sewn heart. This novel tells a family mythology centered on a mysterious mother figure and a box "magic" transmitted from mother to daughter. Very close to the magical realism of Garcia Marques, this book is mesmerizing! The seamstress mother and her children, all variously gifted qualities outsized live a sort of family saga, of initiatory voyage with trials where midwives are crossed, an ogre, a revolutionary, a dead sucker .. . Each encounter is instructive and mystery. A dive into a rich and aesthetic narrative, written in a rich and fluid style ... A treat!
