About two years you had to wait with respect to this plate. Nobody really knew what he had set himself. The trilogy was completed, Manson announced something else entirely to. He made the public curious and slightly confused at the same time, by claiming from the Berlin cabaret of the 30s, combined with the Weimar Republic and the decadence of the art scene, to have been inspired. What should that mean anyway? At least one suspects that Manson obviously strikes other musical paths. And these are inclined than ever ... This is most likely due to the new bassist Tim Skold, who worked previously with KMFDM and now replaced Twiggy Ramirez. Whether one can justify the both musical, and lyrical change the band by switching, remains questionable, but one thing is clear: where earlier issues such as politics, religion, and anti-Americanism dominated, we find now a lot of sex, violence, vaudeville and cabaret paired with partly German (!) terms. If we then consider the titles of the songs, one might think, Manson was pumped in during the work on this plate with drugs. "Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag", "Ka-Boom Ka-Boom" or "Vodevil" sound then but a little moronic and after seeing how Manson can be photographed for promotional purposes ears with Mickey Mouse, has you then but concerns regarding the mental state of Mr. Manson. But at least after the first run, it is noted that the band offer its listeners something new, something Schräges what a catchy immediately. It seems as if a lot of fresh air enters the music, we find before an indescribably varied repertoire of most diverse songs. So sounds "s (AINT)" eg super sexy, melodic and is equipped with a all modern conveniences Groove; "Para-noir" could be described as real "sex anthem", because not for nothing that several women aspirate into the microphone to call reasons why they would not refuse Mr. Manson the odd affair in bed; or the grandiose title track on the disc, "The Golden Age Of Grotesque", which so distorted and worn diagonally sounds that it is the same again awesome. This track entsprich also most likely the vaudeville flair, the Manson wanted to build. At the same place Manson but also to age hardening back, make sure cocky-rock-loud songs like "This Is The New S ***" "Use Your Fist And Not Your Mouth" or "The Bright Young Things". So has Marilyn Manson also here again a wide range of musical nuances and plenty of variety. However, criticism is inevitable. First of all, the fact that blockbuster "Tainted Love" is to be found on the disk. This title is more than out of place on this record, he destroyed almost the overall impression. Geldmacherei? Perhaps because "Tainted Love" fits thematically as good as no not the "Golden Age of Grotesque" and is therefore unnecessary. After the outro, the plate should be closed, but it is not. A big mistake Manson with which it will annoy many of his fans. Another point of criticism is the fact that not a single quiet, melancholic track on the disk is to be found, such as "Coma Black" or "The Speed Of Pain" with the predecessors. "Spade" here is the quietest song, even though you can not really classify as a ballad him. Finally, I regret to say that "The Golden Age Of Grotesque" in no way is the best Manson album. The band has contacted the fantastic trilogy a scale that it was not able to surpass this record. It is certainly time a wonderful become album, for even here his money well worth investigating, but Manson has just more going when he shows here. Even so, "The Golden Age Of Grotesque" a great rock spectacle, a wonderful work of art, which reflects a large audience will know to convince. Although Marilyn Manson have better presented, but this move is grotesque despite several weaknesses highly recommended. Playing tips: "The Golden Age Of Grotesque", "s (AINT)", "slutgarden"
