On this CD acoustic minimalist jazz is on offer - this is true certainly not to everyone's taste. DeJohnette's drumming is at the heart of all compositions, piano and bass put (me) thrifty, often almost entirely executed dabbed accompanying accents. Of the five compositions me really convinced only the third (Priestesses of the Mist) by their slow voltage construction and mesmerizing piano chords and halfway still the last piece. The rest of the CD I find interesting (item 1 and 2) or meaningless (4 piece)
The sound quality of this recording is the finest. The instruments are taken more directly and percussion extends across the whole stereo width. The piano - would it not used so sparingly - is color-beautiful sounding. The spatiality of Aufahme is absolutely convincing.
If I take the frequency of listening as a benchmark I would forgive three star. Given the high sound quality and the convincing third piece I forgive here benevolent four star.
