Use it now for 2 weeks and can not complain. The new design is naturally first unfamiliar but you soon get used to it and because makes Win 8.1 and more fun than its predecessor. The new Start menu is clearer than the old one as it now is also on the entire screen and is much faster can thus search programs than with the old Start menu. Even for people who may not be able to see so well should that be because they no longer have to face up to infinity the font size to see everything a relief. The Apps are a matter of taste. I personally find not so great but you will not also be forced to use them. One can continue to use the old programs without restriction.
In terms of resource Win 8.1 is even again slightly more economical than its predecessor. In the CPU, the difference is very small but in terms of RAM used is negligible Win 8.1 again suitable average 200MB to 1GB less RAM than Win 7 and is therefore better for older or less powerful devices. At the rate it's Win 7 as at least equal to if not faster.
All in all, I am mostly satisfied in any case. After a short adjustment period, it is more fun than Win 7. But you have to also just be ready to embark on it.
