I had the lens again yesterday viewed and tried out at a dealer here in Basel locally.
Compared with the objective that I had received from Amazon, was the noise / hum that I mention below, perceive significantly lower and can no longer be described as disturbing. With this in mind I have but then slammed it and bought directly. I think it is indeed still a pity that the engine is operating in principle, but now, after all, so unobtrusive that it no longer arises. In the coming days I will now detail occupy myself with the lens and then give an all-opinion. Until then, already a star more due to the quieter engine.
Below So my feedback, based on an apparent Monday model.
---
After a short test the lens moves back to Amazon. According to the review falls short of even.
The build quality is very good, the zoom ring runs buttery soft and smooth and the aperture ring snaps neat one - better than, say, the XF23. The focus is very quiet and fast. Of all XF lenses that I have been used (14, 23, 35 and 56), it is the quietest of all.
The image quality I will not judge. I had the lens only two or three minutes at the camera, then I have it wrapped up right back in order to send them without unnecessary wear back to. After all, what bothered me quite decisively, is the permanent operation of the IS and the associated constant noise. Even in "OFF" position, the motor operates continuously. According to defined now everyone differently, so it may not interfere with other users, but it falls in a quiet area in the immediate vicinity definitely on.
After a brief phone call to me was the Fuji confirmed as intentional. I knew from my old Canon lenses (70-200 2.8) with IS so not. When the lens was resting when the IS was made. According to support the technology is at Fuji but different and hence the motor in continuous operation. I have previously read in any product launch / Hands-On on the Internet for this message, otherwise I would have probably not even ordered me. How does this fact, apart from the permanent noise impact on the battery, I can only speculate, but somewhere has the power to operate the motor come yes
Conclusion:
Wertig: Absolutely.
Image quality also determines super if you believe other reports on the net.
Because of the noise and the permanent working engine for me but not a serious option.
