Was The Evil Within title announced in advance as Triple-A, and also perceived? A resounding "yes". Nevertheless, one should bear in mind that Tango Gameworks is a young Independent Studio. While Shinji Mikami is a veteran of the game industry no question. Nevertheless, The Evil Within is the first game that was created by Tango Gameworks and accordingly by a new team. This young studio has not (yet) the resources, such as Capcom or Naughty Dog. Bethesda is only the publisher, presented the budget and therefore this game has not developed in the true sense - as far as the introduction. Now to my impressions regarding the game:
Gameplay:
Is total varied, balanced and class is really fun. Opponents behave unpredictably and aggressively. The level design is simply fantastic! Mikami has since designed a few things that are truly amazing well. (A map on which one can be guided comfortably, there is no way, which I think is very good.) Stealth is an important element, which was finally integrated times in a survival horror game.
The upgrade system is based on the of RE4 and was extended sense. That the main character, however, after a few seconds Sprint is so completely out of breath, had perhaps not necessarily, but ruining the whole not.
Yes, with limited ammunition that gunplay is a challenge, but that's to be, I think. It has something of his own, which I really like. Of course there are parallels to RE4, but frankly, I did not have to think as much to the game - even though I already miss being able to jump out the window. :)
The Story:
The premise is nothing new, but works wonderfully and even if the story works in parts unfocused, so she wears very reason for the sense of disorientation in the genre. Exactly gives the game a great flavor. The things you have to piece together some, nevertheless venture into the next aerosolized courses and expect the worst. Gorgeous! One can not of any game is a story a la The Last of Us expected - this game was and is a major exception.
The Chart:
Granted, I've often wondered why the engine usually comes not entirely clear with outdoor venues. Also in the presentation of the cut scenes often lacked the necessary fine-tuning. These points made me initially been out a little. But the great atmosphere and the art direction have it more than made up. In addition, there are also many places, especially underground tunnels and passages that are really very well done.
The criticisms of many gamers with regard to the graphic I take seriously and they are also entitled. Nevertheless, it's still your decision whether you thus can spoil the fun of the game. Graphics are not everything.
Sure, I was wondering what is the reason for the technical problems. I suppose that decisions were taken with regard to the engine, which could be difficult to correct afterwards. In addition, safe lacked the necessary time and budget. As mentioned above: Tango Gameworks does not have the resources as Capcom and a graphic as in The Last of Us one can not expect every game, especially not from the first work of an independent studios.
The sound:
Brief: FIRST CLASS. Contributes a great deal to horror atmosphere. An absolute pleasure.
My Conclusion:
I find The Evil Within is really challenging, unpredictable and very varied gameplay. As for the atmosphere and the horror, it's not for the faint of heart, and therefore a dream for all Survival Horror fans of the old school.
After RE Remake and RE4 Shinji Mikami has created with The Evil Within in many ways a very successful and impressive work that makes a lot of fun and especially has a high replay factor. It is not "perfect" but RE4 or The Last of Us are not. I hope that Shinji Mikami continues his work as a game designer and even brought us a lot of joy as well as sleepless nights.
The Evil Within gets to me (the technical problems despite) a perfect score.
