Sounds so initially a bit naff. Would it even if ...:
The 160 cards are composed of 8 fractions, each with special abilities that correspond to the "feel" of the faction. The creatures have appropriate special abilities that action cards give appropriate action. So the dinosaurs are particularly big and strong (but can otherwise very little), the zombies come out of the damned discard pile continuously again, the magicians manipulate her deck and always seem to have the right card at hand ... Each player gets two fractions, which he mixes together cheerfully and then raushaut the right nasty combinations. Each fraction is built according to typical trading card Principle: There are a number of simple standard cards, some really nasty and a few hammer-cards. And oh yes, the bases that are captured are, of course, somehow the political groups and have their own special abilities. Everything is together then rounded off with a very atmospheric, detail enamored slightly self-ironic artwork.
It's that simple gameplay, so vielfälitg and varied, it is the sheer number of possible combinations of the fractions and their individual cards.
But Beware! the many, many combos ensure firstly that the game is actually extremely complex. Just beginners have no chance to keep everything at a glance and I recommend to all, to be fair and point out features. Little is more annoying than the supremo gave away just because you overlooked the half-buried under other card protection card. Furthermore, many options are also called, that there are better and weaker and need some first some time before they really get started. So it runs things get bad, you should accept it bravely: It's Just A Game, a fun game!
CONCLUSION: "Smash Up" is a great fun game. The different fractions can be in spite of the simple principles super identify and there are many Möglichketien to annoy "the other" so right. A success now and then really strong super combos, you feel well right the powerful! But you have to tackle the game loosely. Because sometimes just the other have the really strong super combos (and your whole body feels badly off) and the many active special abilities are really only for professionals completely manageable, so players should be fair here and remind each other on overlooked Base Bonis or similar. Finally, the pleasure is then the greater when "the other" then still stomps into the ground ... ;-)
