Diana puts her (brittle) voice a very skillfully.
Jazzänklänge are present, but not too many for the "mere mortals".
The instrumentation / orchestration is subtle / behavior / not fat auftragend and very very very relaxed.
The instruments are clear to hear. The "Piano swabs" in the plays are wonderful minimalist but decisive.
And you always hear nice clear the (mostly acoustic) bass as quasi "guide" through the pieces.
=> That's a clever, good and terrific.
Now, however, to select the pieces. It covers a wide range of many musical genres, but the American songwriter-folk-country including California. (The Eagles - twice) are represented more frequently.
All pieces have a very high level. Absolute masterpieces, and each in itself the purchase of the CD are worth, however, partly because so very different from the originals:
- Operator (Jim Croce) - here, I would forgive 8-10 stars if I could - for me the best piece ever. Perhaps even better
"Rübergebracht" than the original
- I can tell you why (the Eagles) - played here in a wonderfully unusual but wonderful bossa nova rhythm
- California Dreamin '(of the Mamas & Papas) - very orchestral and dreamy, almost a small symphony, if it were not for from the center of the
Would the songs concise bass and rhythm
- Wallflower (Bob Dylan) - the title track, with its interpretation champion Bob probably a bit would be jealous
- Do not dream it's over - just wonderful, especially as the last piece of the CD
There are also two songs in which "emerge" guest singer Michael Bublé and Bryan Adams. You're doing good.
But if you look at the list of musicians on the individual pieces, falling to yet one or the other well-known actor on:
Stephen Stills on the electric guitar; Timothy B. Schmidt of the Eagles sings Background for example
Resumee
Known songs that sound like new.
A great musician, she interprets.
A good producer they support.
A really very pleasant, relaxed musical journey out of the everyday life in another world.
One CD for "ups and downs" and the always-again-hearing.
DAS is just great !!!!!!!!
