Tre! (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Quiet and - appropriately for the Christmas season - contemplative than its two predecessors sounds of the third part of the trilogy Green Day, Tré. This fits into the concept - after all, the band had announced in advance, Uno was warming up for the wild party, Dos is the Party itself and Tré guilty conscience afterwards. So it is not surprising that the density of soulful ballads on the third part is particularly high. The convincing but both musically and lyrically again it was these beautiful, profound, lyrical texts on which Billie Joe Armstrong is able and sometimes missing on the two predecessors. A notable example is, in my view Brutal Love; the piece is so beautiful that one could cry every time. But even at fetzigeren pop-punk songs are not lacking.
Seen in isolation may perhaps hold a candle to any of the three most recent albums masterpieces as American Idiot. But as a whole shows this trilogy yet masterfully, what this great rock band distinguishes since now 25 years. The three parts are effectively a short-demolition of their own musical Discography: With part one we went back to the fun pop punk roots in the nineties, number two was a trip to the filthy garage rock of Foxboro Hot Tubs (a side project of the band) and Tré geared again more recent, epic pieces à la 21st Century Breakdown. Hats off other bands create something just by throwing a best-of collection on the market. Green Day but have given us 37 new (of course, not always equally strong) songs. Some pieces of Tré will enter all time certainly in my list of Green-Day-favorite songs. Definitely a successful conclusion of the trilogy!
