Miss Peregrine and special children: Volume 1 (Paperback)

Customer Review

Strange but captivating novel that is! This is the story of Grandpa Abe who used to tell stories to his little son, Jacob. Of tall tales, actually. The day that Jacob understands what it is he is very disappointed. Immediately his grandfather closes like a clam, let time do its work, it gradually ages and loses his head.

His death, however, be atrocious. Jacob will be the witness. But what did he see exactly? From there, his whole world will constantly collapsing. To remedy this, he decided to fulfill the last wish of his grandfather and flew to the island of Cairnholm, Wales, to find the house of orphans where Abe grew up during the war.

I recommend this strange and unusual reading, disturbing charm and whose story immediately transports you to an incredible imagination. Least you will know about it, the better you will appreciate all the secrets, mysteries, encounters and revelations. Personally, I was spellbound from the first pages.

I had been intrigued by the cover and the book format (very vintage!), In addition to photographs in the margins of history which inevitably think of a fair monsters. And that's where all the strength of this book, the universe is atypical, it upsets, he calls and he leaves no one indifferent.

The story, to remain vague, is disturbing, dark, a little scary too. It's like stepping beyond the limits of our bubble, discover a new world, in which a Tim Burton is not totally alien, and you will enjoy all the beauty and the enchantment it inspires. It is not a banal reading, to recommend to lovers of obscure and obsessive readings.
