I own a Macbook Air for 9 months (2012): A great device, everything runs fast, it never was a problem. I use only standard applications: Office, Safari, Mail.
Then gestures: Mouse stops Macbook makes 10 minutes nothing, then a reboot, all gone: Macbook asks me, either restore or reinstall the operating system from Timemashine.
Apple Store: No chance, all data are lost. Reason: Software errors in the operating system. Would before only rarely, you have only a handful of such cases per year. That means: Personal misfortune.
Such a thing can not be drastically in my view the supposedly "most advanced operating system in the world". My backup was luckily only six days old.
Unbelievable ... never happened in 14 years Windows ... hopefully it will remain in this particular case.
