Functionality, speed, features are top. Namely to put the idea of focus and exposure on the lens ring and a rotary switch is not new, but still very good. The switch on the lens for image size and focus are extremely practical. The image quality is on MFT-level, as it should be.
Now times the things that have led me to deduct a 2 stars:
- The first camera was defective upon delivery. The diopter adjustment was not working and the viewfinder image was extremely blurred. The camera went back directly. That was not exactly a confidence-inspiring start.
- The material quality of both the black, but a lot more of the silver version is just sad. Much plastic, unsightly gaps - that is neither the price nor the market segment on which targets this camera justice.
- The acting cheaply and then also wrong sitting buttons and a non-flush seated battery compartment cover complete the picture mediocre quality appearance. Okay, it's actually a Fujifilm X next to it, which certainly sets the standard for me. But maybe not so much costs a lot more.
- Why do you have to buy at this price an automatic lens cover extra?
- The mini compact flash is a hugely impractical solution.
- The zoom speed really can not be selected? I have not found it.
- Switch could be a little shorter.
My conclusion: great technique cheap packaged. Okay, somewhere must of course be saved. But Panasonic was overzealous here. A camera of this price range to do a bit of fun. The already goes by me when I look at the camera at rest up close. Sony and Fuji show how to do it better. So there's only three stars from me, because I just expect more at a price of just under 800.
