Customer Review

PAUL SIMON by far the more creative half of the cult duo Simon & Garfunkel, 1986 in South Africa awakened to new life. After years of Erfolgslosigkeit the general public, met the legendary musician with his album "GRACELAND" dot the bull's eye. Supported by the black vocal troupe Ladysmith Black Mambazo be sure North Folk was spiced up with South African rhythms and vocals and plötztlich Paul Simon was no longer a folk singer, but the leading figure in the field World Music. A mixture that do not succeed each, with the exception of the Talking Heads, a few years before their New Wave style with ethnic sounds successfully to "Remain in Light" refined.
"Graceland" is probably Paul Simons best and at the same time most successful solo album. With the homonymous single "Graceland" and the wound rare "You can call me Al" Paul Simon had to have two of its most successful top ten hits of his long career.
Unfortunately Paul Simon had to be with "Graceland" with the accusation to fight an exploiter and a colonist, abusing the South Siche music for his purposes to his career not obliging going again and thus earned a lot of money and the sell-off of Africa driving forward.
Quite frankly, living the music of stängigen musical border crossings where everyone takes a bit of everything and are also back. Secondly, I believe that a man has awakened to the awareness of a Paul Simon just the general public interest in Africa certainly culture, artists and music only. Because after "Graceland" there was a real boom in music from the black Kontinet and an unprecedented number of artists in the European and American charts.
"Graceland" is an absolutely timeless album and evokes at one or the other, the desire for more music from South Africa and so was Paul Simon forgiven, who has thus done more for foreign aid as idle critics.
