Customer Review

I'd like to write a few words about published on 26/04/04 third album of the band HAGGARD from Bavaria. In principle, now only times anyone who has a violent dislike of strange progressive heavy metal, stop reading, even if it's really a shame not to know these ultra brilliant music. Who nevertheless is still curious, let me tell you that HAGGARD a band with 18 members and an equally large choir is that a - er - I want to say, fusion of very melodic Death Metal with baroque-sounding classic plus some medieval elements to hearing bring. Electric guitars and double bass drums are equally important strings, oboe, flute and harpsichord, soprano and baritone next guttural singing (but not annoying here), the lyrics come along in English, German, Italian and Latin. The whole thing sounds so incredibly good that you can hardly believe that there really is something. Bands like Nightwish and Therion see next damn pale.
The album is like its two predecessors a concept album, this time it's held by Nostradamus but by Galileo Gelilei. As usual, long rock songs alternate (with 18 people plus chorus complete participation) with short classical instrumentals. The rockers are back progressively to the hilt, not just metal plus classical but Death Metal Classical Middle Ages, it is really a fusion of these elements as acting not placed or unnecessary arranged bombastic, as you know from a few metal bands.
The first album from HAGGARD 'And thou shalt trust ... The Seer' continued already unattainable standards and was simply awesome, the second album 'Awaking The Centuries' topped it loose and sounded even more sophisticated, the elements fused even better, the theme song was a progressive About Pops on an album full blast. The new album 'Eppur Si Muove' is - you do not want to think it possible - in fact, again an increase of genius, now HAGGARD are really absolutely perfect, the instruments and passages merge more uniform, the new singer would be in the opera prove good, especially the new Soprano - wow, a voice like an angel!
Erwähenswert would be that the album contains two versions of a traditional folk song called 'Mr. Mannelig' who knows In Extremo, is now perhaps sit up. Although it is the same song, but totally presented differently, the text is, from whatever, no longer Old swedish but mostly Italian and is presented for reasons of a divine singer, and with at least as much Schmackes like In Extremo (although the otherwise look very old compared to HAGGARD - and I like In Extremo really). What this song has now lost in the structure of the concept album, I can not say, the text has been written at least from band mastermind Asis Nasseri himself in Intalienisch, but as I do not speak Italian can, which is not understandable for me. Oh Well.
Although some think now, Death Metal may indeed be only krachig, I'm sure many would revise this opinion when they have heard HAGGARD. Not only the classic elements are perfectly presented, the band members with electric instruments know their craft perfectly.
Up on 'Mr. Mannelig' are all original compositions, mostly written by Asis Nasseri, who owns a compositional talent beyond compare. HAGGARD are a band who should rake in millions, but unfortunately known only to a small circle of fans, which, although scattered throughout the world (may be seen only by the concert from Mexico to, 'Awaking the Gods', available on DVD) but hardly can ensure that the band lives of their music and no secular employment longer has to devote. So once it takes three and this time four years until the new album came. Now, you realize that they had a lot of time to work out the pieces, the whole album is like all of a piece, although it contains many individual passages, but they are linked as a matter of course, forming a whole that just impressed.
May this band exist for a long time and continue to create so absolutely brilliant music!
