Power idle

Enslaved is great. Vertebrae (my debut), Isa, Ruun, Monumension and Axioma Ethica Odini: That was so far so my collection, which I like to grab again and again; I adore this band for their performance and their sheer metallic imagination. Riitiir I also pre-ordered immediately.

So it was there and since then ran a few times through my headphones. And let me back in consternation: please What's that! Endless repetitions that slowly weave together into a whole - too slow and haphazard for my taste. A sound that is at times described with 'suboptimal' friendly, especially if only a few guitars are heard. On Herbrand Larsen's head voice, which he uses at times, I could have happily do without. Of course, this album has its highlights, but before that all too often is a tedious riff-Pampa, who do not want to reverse the polarity so pretty in a landscape with suction and atmosphere: energy at idle. Disappointing.

The enclosed DVD is also the effort is not worth. Hand Knitted and excessively produced one sees the band members now here, now there, in the rehearsal room and on the go, as they sometimes this, sometimes that express their opinions or knock sayings. This does not need a man. Except for those who it keenly interested how Enslaveds Studio looks from the inside. In-depth insight into the concept of the album does not exist.

All in all, two stars: Riitiir is not a bad album, and it's still Enslaved. But the big hit, it is certainly not and considering its predecessors rather obstinate as enriching.
