Powerhouse, but not a high-end notebook!

I was looking for a notebook under 1000 with good to very good hardware for demanding video editing (up to 4K) and got in my search for a price comparison among other things, this Lenovo notebook.
The appearance and manufacturers was with could not care less, because I was looking for no show-notebook, but one who can convince me of the power here!
At the time of purchase, the price stood at 799 (early March).

The exterior and the haptic (3.5 of 5 stars):
The entire appearance of the laptop is made of plastic, either matt or glossy black in color.
Does not look bad, but feels little with value and attracts dust like a magnet ...
The keyboard is also made entirely of plastic and therefore a bit noisy at the ready.
But pressure point and reliability are still perfectly fine.
With 2.5kg notebook is no lightweight, but can be easily transported without any problems and disturbs not particularly well on your lap.
The size is also more for the midfield.
Neither particularly large nor particularly small, as it should be.

The intrinsic values ​​(5 out of 5 stars):
The notebook can convince all along the line!
It moves within 3 seconds up (!!!) and is also generally so very quickly.
Video editing to 4K are not a problem, not even with Full HD real-time preview.
Daily surfing on the Internet, it creates of course without any problems and work with Office programs.
When starting and normal load is the fan sounds may be heard ... and when I say no, I do not mean!
Only under full load hear a fan noise, but nevertheless is surprisingly quiet!
The notebook is usually normal on a table, no extra laptop holder for ventilation, this is just as a note.
How will the laptop in gaming beats, I can not answer unfortunately.
The SSD is small but extremely fast!
I have all the files (pictures / videos) on an external USB 3.0 hard drive and install only programs on the notebook itself.
The DVD drive is fast and reliable, depending on the requirement in part a bit noisy ... but still ok.
The USB connectors fit for purpose (2x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.0).
For all other connections I can not say anything because I did not use this.

Sound and Image (3 out of 4 stars):
The screen is glossy and therefore not necessarily recommended in strong sunlight.
However, you can adjust the screen so bright that you can counteract this (higher power consumption note).
The image quality in their daily work (video editing, Internet) as well as watching movies and videos on the net is fine.
Color and contrast are all ok, but there are problems, if you change the viewing angle without aligning the notebook ... thereto but you get used to very quickly.
The original sound of the notebook is underground badly ... no bass and very cheap sound image.
However, I use a Bluetooth sound system and can act as the very opposite.

The operating system and pre-installed programs (4 of 5 stars):
You get delivered the notebook with Windows 8.1.
I was very skeptical at the beginning, because I've used so far more than Windows 7 and only bad've heard about Windows 8 and 8.1 ...
However, I set before you buy smart, how the idiosyncrasies of Windows counteract 8.1.
So there are for example, a program that the Classic Start menu returns (Classic Shell), which is absent in Windows 8.1 is well known.
However, working with the tile system after a short time achieved very good, but makes only one tablet or other device with touch screen really fun.
Nevertheless, you should leave it alone because of Windows 8.1 in no case be put off by a purchase!
The preinstalled programs and apps were unusable (at least for me) to 85% and were deleted immediately.

The battery life (5 out of 5 stars):
So far, the notebook kept fully charged always 3 - 5 hours, although it was often set under full load and the "power plan" to its peak performance.

Conclusion:
For my part I am fully satisfied with the notebook.
But every buyer should be aware that he does not buy high-end notebook with high-quality appearance!
Also, one should follow the price exactly ... at my purchase price already stood at 799, two days later at just over 1000!
In my opinion, a price to 850 is ok, everything about it was in my opinion too expensive.
