Have the unit for a few days in use and am very satisfied. Heard by price and facilities in the category of sophisticated player. The device has only a few minor minuses and I see it between 4 and 5 star, but in the price range you should be a bit more critical.
In detail, a few aspects:
Device and feel: Legal elegant design, but are not particularly impressive. Due to the plastic housing despite the size quite easily, without appearing cheap. The unit has a loading drawer for discs at the front and pleasant-to-use touch panel keys on the top. The included remote control looks cheap and has no particularly pleasant pressure point, but at least it does what it should. One can indeed use the device on the MyRemote App from Philips, very nice gimmick and works well, but replaced for me not really a proper remote control.
Installation: Largely problems, plug in, turn on and you will be guided through the setup. Nice that the device has an integrated WLAN 2 x 2. As annoying I feel however -as unfortunately in very many equipment- the configuration of the WLAN. WPS in automatic mode did not work, multiple attempts have failed. The unit was also in manual mode not at all try the local router, which stood just a few feet beside it, and typing the wireless remote control password is very cumbersome and has not worked despite certainly true typed password, very annoying. WPS with PIN then works. The Ethernet connection was not a problem. The wireless connection is actually good enough to stream HD content also, but depending on the number of users on the WLAN, a movie comes before faltering, what I would not blame the players. HD movies from libraries ran with me so far without any problems.
The menu system of the device is intuitive (as I already knew from other BDP Philips), all configuration tasks can be reached easily and perform.
Picture and sound quality are subjective very good, with Blu-ray or other HD films there is nothing to complain about, the device detects virtually all formats (as far as I've tried the example MKV). What pleasantly surprised me, was the conversion of 2D films into 3D. Although it is not a full 3D experience, I find the picture quality to be very good, sometimes not very strong 3D effect (like protruding from the device objects), but without any shadows or streaks and very pleasant to look at (with Philips TV Glasses ).
Also convenient is Miracast when it supports their own mobile phone or tablet (it had successfully tested with a HTC One). Miracast can be easily turned on and transmits the image content wirelessly to your TV. Have tried this only briefly and worked, but I had with fast scroll through pictures a delay of several seconds will partially, the test on the occasion again.
Since I have no 4K distance Rather, all I can say and nothing to upscaling. SmartTV, behaves like many other devices that use the SmartTV services makes sense only in a few applications (such as for libraries or VoD), Internet via television is not really an alternative to the PC or tablet.
In summary:
