Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Professional [Download] (Software Download)

Customer Review

I Win7x64. Because the hard disk Manager "Professional" calls and "Windows 8 ready" Anyway, I bought it as a download, trusting that the installation routine will automatically create the appropriate version (32 or 64 bit) - as I at various had experienced professional programs regularly so. Given that most PCs are now shipped with pre-installed 64-bit Windows, I could probably be expected. However: The disk manager is in the folder "Program Files (x86)". From this I conclude that there must be a 32-bit application (exactly I do not know that but, Paragon makes unfortunately no clear indication). A selection of 32/64-bit version is not possible when you install the download version. Microsoft itself says that not all 32-bit programs are run under Winx64 and called virus scanner and device drivers as examples (MS site, FAQs). Also hard disks are devices. After the installation, although the disk manager has not done anything to Office applications hang when searching for printers installed on reproducible, even after restarting Windows. After De-installation of Hard Disk Manager, the problem is gone. It is idle to speculate on the culprits. For me, the fact remains an incompatibility. On demand at the IT department of my employer has, generally discouraged me from system backup software that works under operating system is running, only booting from CD is reliable. The full installation (incl. Updates) and configuration of my system took more than a week. Quite possible that somewhere problems are hidden, but yes that's why I wanted to make a system backup, to spare me weeks of work. I do not have enough system knowledge, but must blindly trust the software manufacturer. Can I do that? The risk is in any case always the user himself. I wanted 64-bit software and 32-bit I get. This was caused by m. E. the inadequate labeling of the product, which is why I like only awarded 1 star. The risk, in fact let the hard disk manager to do something, I do not like go, so this review relates only to the labeling, not on the operability.
