After receiving the lamp I was excited about how well thought out and high quality is the design and what quality materials are installed. I knew previously of lamps so not!
My impression: for the design and execution of someone has really thought of what, and: as expense has been spared!
All components appear to be made for eternity: no cheap plastic, not self-tapping screws, no sharp edges, etc., but solid metal, made absolutely perfect fit and with attention to detail.
Screws: real screws (Torx partly, key in the delivery!), Etc.,
even the left and right end caps: tailor-made metal parts with magnetic fastening!
The canopy, ie the part that is mounted on the ceiling, is an elaborately-made welding construction:
super solid and high quality!
Phillips screws (2 pieces, 4x40mm) and dowels (6 mm) for ceiling mounting are included, maybe there because of their own toolbox and what better fro ...
The lamp comes pre-assembled, ie the glass parts still need to be cultivated. Pictograph excessive installation instructions are available.
Who does not want to mount the lamp right there, where the power supply comes from the ceiling, must provide an opportunity to lead the lead in the canopy. This is not say anything provided.
I have this one to the cable diameter corresponding hole in the edge of the canopy filed with the round file: no problem. Is also available with an appropriate grinding point in the mini drill ...
The cable lengths can be adjusted comfortably by an ingenious alignment aid on top of the lamp canopy: after a slight loosening of a threaded sleeve (so I call now times) can be further push the rope into the canopy.
It is very pleasant that the cable can not easily slip out again:
there is a kind of self-locking: yes shove, pull out, only when one presses on the sleeve!
Thus, the adjustment of the cables is very pleasant to carry out.
The cable ends are treated to fray, not just cut off.
I have the pitches first roughly adjusted the excess rope shares wound, and fixed with adhesive tape, stowed in the canopy. After that, made for Suspended lamp that fine adjustment.
(The issue of height adjustment please do not misunderstand here: this is not an adjustment for daily use)
The cable I have something cut, was not a problem.
Also interesting: the two terminal strips are each protected housed in a small plastic box, probably therefore, so that the rope ends of the ropes, can not come into contact with live parts. Very nice!
All in all, you should take enough time for the hanging, completion, aligning, etc. of lamp: just so, that's not done.
The lamp has normal E27 sockets, so replaceable bulbs.
Two Philips energy-saving lamps, Tornado, a 20W, 1200lm, lt. Package info to the 88W-with corresponding conventional light bulbs, was included.
The lamps can be dimmed when the dimmer is also suitable for so-called Tronic transformers.
The simpler dimmer for incandescent, halogen lamps and conventional transformers are not suitable (even tried).
Due to the conventional E27 sockets could in future also screwed LED lamps.
Pleasant is also my opinion that the glass elements of the lamp surround the bulbs completely:
gives a diffused light and you do not look directly into the light bulb.
This light is emitted not only down, but all around.
The perceived light intensity is ok for me, but, with the described lamps used, not super bright.
Conclusion:
very high quality lamp with replaceable and dimmable (dimmer provided of course) E27 bulbs.
Addendum:
In a lamp with glass parts can sooner or later something getting broken.
I had actually assumed interpreted to lie with a Philips brand lamp on the safe side, and possibly even to be able to order a replacement part at Philips.
But: Philips Lightning could / wanted to sell me a replacement part!
Very bad: the unavailability of a replacement glass represents the total loss in the case of the case.
Also, some online retailers had more's not so with the supply of spare parts.
Therefore: the purchase of a high-quality lamp with fragile glass parts, if necessary, take into account the availability of spare parts.
A brand name alone is no guarantee of a decent end customer service.
