Let us first discuss the aesthetic shift that will surprise more than one fan-going like me: we
Looks like Michel 'thickened' both face and entire body and very difficult to recognize
Françoise and Jean-Pierre ... This well marks an evolution and a revolution even I find
ultimately rather nice (we were so used to the faces 'square' and 'craggy' of
great Jean Graton ...)
But let's get to the real surprise of this album: a return to family values years
50/60 (the best time this series of exceptional longevity)
clattering more or less violently with the modern world embodied by young children of Jean-Pierre Michel and Jean-Michel, who is already working on
his father's footsteps and Patrick, who just got out of adolescence and that goes to show all
colors to his father champion ...
Frankly, it's super nice to return to a part of the atmosphere of the 'Jonquière' as there
40 years ago (see the family meal of the early '8th Driver') as if nothing had changed with the Father
Vaillant always grumpy ...
It's also great to have seen the birth of Jean-Michel (in the first 10 volumes) and Patrick
(In the Special issue '20th Anniversary Special') who had completely disappeared from circulation ...
Another (good?) Surprise, Frances, we had hyper rebellious in his youth and who
became totally erased in the following 50 albums after getting married with Michel,
reveals disturbing sides of his personality as a mother who does not understand the vagaries
his son ...
Finally, Cherry for last, since 'BLACK SERIES' I did not remember that Michel introspects
and wondering if wanting to succeed at all costs his sporting career in the service mark
Valiant, he has not just neglected to care for her son (placed in a strict school
Switzerland) ....
Also add qu'interloqué by Françoise reactions, it leaves squarely seduce
a young journalist (like it vaguely reminds us of something ...) although it appears
as a 'married woman' (but without children). Tackling sacrosanct marriage in the family
also BCGB that Vaillant, what a revolution in perspective (and kudos to the authors to take
as many liberties with the "codes" established on 70 albums)
Small detail: the authors Michel placed under such psychological questions they
squarely "deleted" from that album, the rebellious alter ego, who spoke directly all
feelings about a hero too "smooth" I speak of course Steve Warson, totally absent
the album ... (curious how he will return this season - if he comes back!)
In short, to savor for fans throughout the course of this exceptional series
(Cuckoo and Marc Bourgne for his fierce defense of his work!)
