Pro:
- Good workmanship
- Small size, fits great in your pocket (with a solid leather sheath)
- Display with good resolution and beautiful colors, just difficult to read in direct sunlight, but that is true almost all mobile phones
- Most Android apps run well (but not Firefox, Flash, some directions - but too little RAM or incorrect processor)
- Update on Gingerbread (2.3.3) comes probably soon also in Germany (in other regions already out) [Edit .: Update is for a few weeks out and is automatically installed by gravel]
- Photos are in adequate light in order [Edit: on paper prints can be seen with an accurate view sharpened edges, the overall impression is but OK]
Cons:
- Irregular crashes unless wireless is enabled (which is of course the standard!): Sometimes the Gio depends completely, the battery must be removed briefly to restart it can, at times, the unit starts also simply by itself and then waits for the PIN. Known issue (s. Messages in forums), will not be resolved by Gingerbread update. [Edit: After updating to 2.3.3, this error has disappeared in MRI]
- If reception is poor (GPRS) to fold on its own menus and / or the on-screen keyboard, temporarily therefore can no longer operate the unit until the reception is better. Also known bug that but apparently does not occur on all devices. [Edit .: Will not fix's update. Supposedly helps a warranty repair ...]
- "Buttons" in the lower-sixth of the screen respond unwillingly to Fingertips (in different apps)
- Recently Karlsruhe is the interchange stuck the Google navigation because the GPS reception was gone, which remained 30km far so until I (! Not only the navigation) have restarted the unit, then worked as GPS reception and the navigation again [Edit .: since the update no longer occurred]
- Videos are on the phone display OK, on the PC may make you feel forgotten, the resolution is only 320x240.
- PC software "Samsung Kies" is rather moderate succeeded laid after installing the Microsoft Sync Framework lame (needed to be re-installed via Control Panel), currently works for me for unknown reasons again only incomplete (images on SD card only appears in Windows Explorer, not in gravel). [Edit .: has after the last gravel update again caught]
Especially the first three Contra points nervous really, but I'm afraid other devices in this price range and with this functionality have other similarly annoying errors. One can live with it. The manufacturer who places devices on the market flawless, has yet to be established well.
