Customer Review

Basically I'm looking for the camera so many are looking for:

- As small as possible
- As much Wide
- As much zoom
- HD video
- Good image quality, especially in low light
- A camera in automatic mode simply just captures what I see now. If possible, genuine, unadulterated, sharp and round as quickly as possible.

I do not put much value on many gimmicks - I just wanted a camera makes good especially in the indoor area Images
For this purpose it must have a lot of wide-angle, trigger quickly and be as small as possible, since I have otherwise not there.

Previously I had the Kodak LS633 3,1MP - already years old and the Panasonic TZ7 - defective recently, nevertheless reimbursed by Amazon still full purchase price get after 1.5 years - that works simply exemplary - only at the margins.

After a long gegoogle I came across the 3 top models that looked very vielverprechend:
Canon S95, Panasonic TZ10, Samsung WB2000
All 3 quality cameras include their brand each of the top models.

I then tested the cameras for several days. Shot hundreds of pictures. Respectively from the same perspective and the same lighting conditions.
To put it straight to the point. None of the devices is perfect - the decision for a device is very difficult to please.

What does the one as an advantage, the other as a disadvantage.
The mix of 3 units would be perfect:

The best thing about the S95 is the fast lens - for indoor shots at normal room lighting, the images get a little better than the other.
Supremely the F2.0 lens is not but compared.
In automatic mode, although the ISO value can be limited up to 400, but this is still too high.
The S95 also captures still much too late to the flash use. Of course, well-exposed images without flash are much more professional and nice.
But before the image is blurred and krisselig - I'd rather lightning. - This makes the TZ10 significantly better.
Only in manual mode better pictures can be made here with a lot of effort and experience.
For photographing family events such as birthdays and so therefore unfit. Until the camera is set up are the best scenes over.
The S95 can be best put any flowers in the right light while kneeling 5 min before and everything adjusts perfectly.
As bright snapshot camera the S95 for me therefore rejects.
Also, the wide-angle only starts at 28mm on what for smaller rooms again is not enough.

Much better is the Panasonic TZ10 here
With 25mm wide angle a little better and at the same time a large zoom range covers the Pana all needed focal lengths from well.
The best thing about the Pana: The automatic mode.
With enough light, the TZ10 shoots quickly, reliably and sharp.
The camera is very reliable, the correct settings. Blurred or shaky images are thus hardly possible.
The TZ10 feels very high quality, for example, has a larger release button as WB2000 and S95. It lies well in the hand. This can also take pictures with one hand well.
Prior to shake you need have no fear - the Verwacklungschutz my erachtes works very well and reliably at the TZ10.
However, the biggest drawback is the faint lens. By Hochen focal length range, the wide-angle panel begins at 3.3.
This is for indoor shots for too little.
Makes the TZ10 with sufficient light or when day outdoors perfect images is to use hardly any photo already inside in light dim light.
All dark colors blur into a slush. The noise is clearly visible.
This issue was also the TZ7 - I was hoping for an improvement in the TZ10. But with the same lens data of course was nothing else to be expected, because the physics behind it is probably the same.
Nevertheless, for shooting outdoors in daylight you will find what is probably no better compact using this information and the image quality.

Last attempt to beat the whole was the Samsung WB2000.
But here I was miserably disappointed.
The WB2000 has a super display - but that is not very helpful because you can see so only fast that hardly a picture with this camera is to use.
Originally, I had been looking forward to the most wide-angle 24mm.
The supposedly pretty fast lens should begin the 2.4 I think Samsung but not the value of this right.
The WB2000 is nice light and compact but the operation is very slow. Settings in the menu are slow and annoying. The additional thumbwheel for setting the self-timer and frames per second, etc. is missraten völlich. It reacts just not right on the rotation with the thumb.
The time-lapse mode was an interesting feature. More than one image per minute, the camera in this mode, but no. So that the gather of shorter sequences of eg 60 minutes to 5 minutes is not possible, because otherwise too little pictures are for the interesting effect available.
For picking up a daily schedule from dawn to sunset is an interesting gimmick and works quite well.
The WB2000 can actually pretty much - but nothing really.
The high-speed mode at 1000 frames per second is not to be used, which shrinks the video to a Mini resolution 192x something pixels - to recognize nothing more.
This feature in the full 10MP resolution I had expected and was therefore very disappointed.
But my main function reliably fast indoor snapping them not kannn.
I've never had so much as with this camera image Committee
So is in automatic mode, no red-eye flash available. The images I had to rework all - not that there was in the TZ10!
Annoying but is especially the speed.
After the release button is pressed to focus can complete after trigger another 2-3 seconds (!!!) take up to anything does.
What the camera tries to adjust this period has not been revealed to me.
In any case, the subject was long gone by the WB2000 triggers.
From all Händling ago annoys the Samsung. The controls are imprecise control. The Auswählrädchen runs somehow awkward. Launched by the S95 against Flushed really nice by - well my subjetiver impression precisely.
The picture quality is modest. Even outdoors, the camera does not serve up some TZ10 far.
The supposedly fast lens use is nothing at all in this unit.

Conclusion:
I was willing to spend a lot of money and have therefore looked at only the high end models.
But I had to admit that either the physics or the unwillingness of manufacturers prevent that there is the perfect camera.

After my test, I can actually say that the Panasonic came out on top.
if they would have the maximum aperture of the S95 it would be the almost perfect camera.

or if the WB2000 speed and image quality of the TZ10 would .....

or if the S95 the focal length range of TZ10 would ....

There are also thousands of other criteria that make the cameras for the occasional Inter Santer. But it would illuminate all due to the functional range of the devices provide a small book.

I have therefore still not found - my perfect camera.
Granted, the demands are high - I am also ready for spending lots of money.

With my first camera Kodak LS633 with 3.1 MP are somehow all the images of "good" has become. Despite or precisely because of the small number of pixels can I find the picture quality of this old camera for example considerably better than that of the WB2000. Of course, still missing Wide and some detail but in total the images seemed realistic genuine and well illuminated.

The guesswork of whether the manufacturers perceive the recessions on the Internet at all or be partially integrated into the development continues.
On the other side I guess probably the technical possibilities with the underlying physical laws and simply expect the impossible: 22mm - 300mm focal length lens with a maximum aperture of at least 2.0 and no shutter lag..

This recession is a result of my frustrations, about the best moments in life is not easy to catch any problems with the camera failed pretty subjective.
It serves as unlikely as a decision support for potential buyers. Incidentally, I forgive not like 5 star because still "air" to the top remains for improvement - in every article.
4 stars are for the S95 probably something "unfair" that they really great in principle, but just does not fit on my main field of application and the small Brennweitenbereicht is not satisfactory.

I'm definitely still looking for the perfect camera and I am sure - it is being developed somewhere - vielleich at NIKON - let's see .....
