The Breeze - An Appreciation of JJ Cale (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Exactly one year ago JJ Cale died. What Eric Clapton delivers here with people like Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson and many others on this occasion in honor of JJCale, is inspired by the first until the last second, inspired, and still so relaxed, as well as JJ Cale had during his lifetime probably attempt it no better. The boys take the album title AN APPRECIATION OF JJ CALE quite literally, showing thereby their greatest respect for JJ Cale and his works and dare only hesitant to impose some songs own stamp, apart from the vocal contributions of Willie Nelson. This is exactly what makes the charm of this album for me. Without reinterpretations à la AFTER MIDNIGHT or COCAINE that barely sound like its author, to THE BREEZE sounds almost like a by JJ Cale even rehearsed with the support of EC & Friends album. If JJ Cale would hear that he was with all his modesty and reticence perhaps equally charmed and taken as the reviewer the most enjoyable listening to this album, which is also grown in terms of sound very appealing.
