Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse Scroll Wheel (Accessories)

Customer Review

Hello Mouse interested,

In addition to this mouse I still have the MX500 (at work) and the MX518 (not refresh / on second computer) for years.
Now some will ask why I from a very good mouse (MX518) have changed this.
I'm not a hardcore players - now only casual gamers - and put little value on the PC status symbols.

The reason is quite simple: I could make friends with the smooth surface of the MX518 never.
You dirty quickly and hands have an increased tendency to sweat in this slippery smooth surface.
Another reason there were not for the change.

Unfortunately I refresh (MMN the best mouse) missed the G5 and you can no longer available for purchase (at least not at a reasonable price).
So I came up with the G500.

First of all: It is a great mouse. For me, even better than the MX518.
I try to objectively identify pros and cons Punke, where for me the counterpoints are not really "experienced". I'll be the counterpoint then again comment from my perspective.

Pro:
- The three thumb buttons are self as Grobmotoriker easily accessible for me and always kept apart.
- 4-way scroll wheel. Some like it, some do not. The horizontal scrolling I do not use, so this point I do not really matter.
- You can load the settings (dpi levels, polling rate, key assignments, etc.) on the mouse's internal memory. Once you get the settings so has stored thereon, requires all other computers NO! Logitech drivers. Simply plug it in and your own settings will be used (awesome!).
- The surface structure is similar to the MX500 (ie not as smooth) -> hands do not sweat so easily.
- It allows to control the detent of the mouse wheel (with or without detent). Without good when scrolling long web pages.
- Display of the DPI level via LEDs. Never again "counted" steps as in the MX518.
- Maximum 5700 dpi. For me Errei game. I take in 95% of cases and the rich 800dpi me
- Laser tracking (fewer problems on surfaces)
- For me, better positioning of the DPI switch
- Adjusting the weight via weight-Cartridge (I do not use, but should be for some a pro-argument).
The weight is about as high as my MX518 without additional weights (the G500 is only few grams heavier)

Cons:
- The mouse wheel "floats" side. It wobbles slightly back and forth and when you thoughtlessly presses the middle mouse button you can fall into the "4-way trap". I personally do not mind, because when you press the middle mouse button I am not Grobmotoriker surprisingly and so far had no problems, only the middle button pressed.
- A slight buzzing noise can be heard when you hold the mouse ear - but not when I'm working with the mouse (a somewhat weaker buzzing is the way to hear even with my MX500 and MX518). I hear anyway these high frequency sounds only partially, so that is not disturbing for me.
- Sensor is installed near the front. Honestly, I feel there is absolutely no difference to MX5xx.
- "Lower prices push sound". The keystroke sound the MX518 is indeed dull, but for me the sounds keystroke the G500 not disturbing "cheap" or clacking.
- Only 3 LED indicator bars for the DPI levels (5 dpi levels are maximum adjustable). This is the only true gripe for me. Logitech had better omitted because the useless line male symbol among the beams and it added 2 more bars.

Conclusion:
-----
I know people tend to always talk up the purchased, usually to justify and partly even unconsciously.
However, I have a - very sober and analytical person - say that my mouse like better than the MX500 and MX518. Alone, the settings are stored in the mouse and so - without driver - be accessed and used on any computer to me is a worthwhile feature.

Of the listed counterpoints bothers me only the last. All others I know and / or do not bother me.
Now I'm out of the game Age and am not hyper-sensitive input devices what terms.

However, I believe me, by the experience of their predecessors, to allow a judgment.
The G500 is the best mouse I had before, and I see little reason to replace them (apart of course defects).

Now why "only" four stars? 5 star get perfect products. And the G500 is not perfect - although close, but not entirely.
Perhaps swings as well as a bit of disappointment at a high level with which a trifle (3 LED bars for 5 levels) - "preserved" that would have been really easy to fix and actually is logical, the mouse before perfection.

Hope I could help with this review, and bring some light into the darkness.

Greeting
