Early in the story, Amy is a common teenager. As age wants, it conflicts with his parents. His mother works for the government and is so obsessed with security that it has installed an electric fence around the house. As for his father, it is a real hippie who is very concerned about the environment and who built a fully ecological house. Amy would not have survived if she had not stayed home that day that her mother was at work and her father to the market. Aliens have landed and they turned out to be monsters devourers of human flesh. They quickly destroyed much of the world population. It is thanks to both parents that Amy has remained alive. They died but their home has protected the girl and allowed her to live in isolation.
Three years later, Amy and a little girl she has gathered: Baby still survive amidst monsters. Since they have developed a hyper heard, they have abandoned the use of the word and move now barefoot. They know how to be discreet so as not to be spotted (and eat ...). Questions torment them nevertheless: is that there are other survivors? How aliens could they control the vessels while they are devoid of intelligence?
The first part is focused on survival, while the second is more dystopian. Unfortunately, I can not tell you why. If I merely tell you only the first half is that it is absolutely necessary to keep the suspense to fully appreciate the history. The first two hundred pages are great but the two hundred others are just amazing. There is a huge suspense, twists and it was very very afraid for our heroines. "In the after" is in post-apocalyptic novel and futuristic novel. The universe is really well thought out and very credible!
In this dark future that leaves little room for hope and love, Amy and Baby will be. Both girls have a very strong relationship, they see themselves as sisters but soon realizes that Amy, despite his young age (seventeen) behaves like a real mother. She puts the baby before his own interests and is desperate to protect her. Baby is very intelligent. She is only seven and no memory of "The front". She is a survivor, a child of the "After" who grew up in this world full of monsters.
There is a word that marked me a lot during this reading, is silence. The noise attracts monsters. Baby Amy and had to adapt to not endanger. There is no spoken dialogue for much of the novel. Baby Amy and communicate in silence, through gestures. (To set the mood for "In the after", I suggest you read this book in peace!)
This novel really got me stuck. There is an enormous tension throughout the novel, I stressed to the point !!! Even when our heroines feel safe, it remains on the alert. Demitria Lunetta is not the type to give respite to his characters! Danger lurks at every second, every page ...
The style and atmosphere help a lot. Demitria Lunetta chose the simple past but the novel is as vivid as if it were written in the present. The author plunges us directly into the story and then more way out! "In the after" is a big page-turner!
To conclude, this is an excellent novel that gives us the Lumen editions. "In the after" is a thrilling and surprising survival me completely carried away! I highly recommend this first volume of a diptych that revisits the myth completely zombies and aliens ...
A great read!
