In their latest album "In My Solitude" he combines jazz and classical music: Marsalis interprets classical pieces, alternating with jazz standards and improvisations. This time, however, as a soloist, unaccompanied by an orchestra, in contrast to the two aforementioned albums.
At exactly right and proper place for such a performance, a cathedral, Marsalis draws as probably already the audience of the concert also the receiver of this live CD particularly in the improvisation with its partly rapid chord progressions and hypnotic ostinato in its spell.
Conclusion: Recommended album for all lovers of the classical saxophone but also for listeners who enjoy the crossover between jazz and classical music.
