Finally it was time: The long-awaited sequel to Golden Sun has been published on 10 December 2010 - probably a day on which many a person for ages must have been waiting.
I do not want a long talk about the bush, but to concentrate on the essential criteria and characteristics of the game:
Some players from the fan base you got so often heard and read that the puzzles, the fights between characters, just the usual difficulty in contrast to the two predecessors had been increasingly reduced and simplified. I can only add my voice to the part, I consider above all the fights (compared to its predecessors!) As something oversimplified - which is not intended to mean that they in turn are intended to represent a very light breeze.
The puzzles remember there rather as more or less on the first two parts of the RPGs that have been published about 7 years ago, and the puzzles occurring in the games of Zelda DS - something light and tasty, something tricky and challenging, in whole convince but at some points of the game and ask for a little tactics and creativity.
The menu is, as has already been mentioned by other evaluator, a bit strange and somehow become in my opinion a little messy, but not a true disaster, with the time one pays attention to this but less than at the beginning.
The graphics are definitely in order, especially in the incantations with the jinns await the player some stunning short scenes with beautiful effects that on the Nintendo DS are great for relationships!
The story is always worth seeing and very appealing, especially since it has unfortunately become not quite as fully worked out as that of its predecessors - but the typical Golden Sun Feeling emerges here again again after a short time and allows the player last emotions of the two awaken predecessors - assuming he has both already been played out. However, I am not saying that knowledge of the GBA parts are needed in order; also for absolute beginners is Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a very interesting alternative to the game series Final Fantasy!
For those who did not know Golden Sun so far, there are in the game a detailed encyclopedia and passing a kind of chronicle of which you have to collect in the form of books parts during his adventure / may, where all the important information about the history, which is first on the both parts of the JCC occurred, are presented succinctly. This may certainly be a good help to clarify at least the relationships and the concept of history better. Profound details you should expect, however, because by no means!
Finally, I would like to mention that I miss a martial function via Wi-Fi in the age of the NDS; you could, for example, the ancient martial function of the two predecessors (which does not affect the actual game had) can so completely take over, this just then bring Wi-Fi to connect to any to give the player the opportunity against other opponents around the world confront what the game would certainly completes still a lot, but it is also not a one must.
Collected random Summary:
****** Points that I find very appealing: ******
(+) The accompanying music is again all managed and fabulous, as there is nothing to complain about
(+) Satisfactory graphics, especially the 3D effects, etc. in the incantations of jinn, Psynergy come to light
(+) Protagonists and antagonists; were respected my opinion on a suitable character design and temperament
(+) Long term game, which is still typical for Golden Sun
(+) There is a lot of action over the jinns (72!) That need to capture it, which can be in some places a real challenge
(+) Control available to the player free to choose; Here's entirely up to him whether he would rather explore Weyard with buttons and D-pad or stylus and touch screen - but only the microphone is not a single time for the course
****** Points that I consider to be in need of improvement: ******
(-) Menu system is a bit confusing, so you can sometimes lose track
(-) Fights are rather easier than originally expected; Level of difficulty of opponents could be increased still confidently and without Zimperlichkeiten what would have made the game more attractive to some
(-) Characters can be with him too little items; they must unfortunately possibly consume or sell prematurely, to make room
(-) Wireless combat function was completely omitted
(+/-) While an elaborate and interesting story, which results in the game, but unfortunately not quite as overwhelming and emotionally, how it was used by the predecessors
My conclusion in light of all relevant criteria: Probably CAMELOT has harvested with this game, not quite as many points and prestige as with his old classics of yesteryear, but I think, despite small flaws and weaknesses that Golden Sun: Dark Dawn by and large has become all a worthy successor.
I rate this game with regard to the points that I've gone through, with 4.5 stars.
I would welcome a possible fourth installment definitely here CAMELOT could certainly come up with some exciting and creative ideas for the announced Nintendo 3DS, and make some improvements, such as the level of difficulty turning the necessary screws.
