The requirements for a safety gate were mainly: clamp variant, ie no holes in our real wood staircase, a simple and one-handed door opening and of course a cheaper price. First, we ordered only a grid for testing purposes.
The product is processed properly and makes a high-quality and stable impression. The annexed guide is not really enlightening, but the installation explained quasi by itself and is not difficult even for laymen. The grid acts warped at first glance, but during the clamping operation, this optical illusion will disappear quickly. Important during installation: First, the cable tie can be tuned, it gets easier. The additional pieces are simply connected via massive pins with the main element. With 4 screws / threaded rods (2 per side) then the grid between the walls (or stairs, etc.) is clamped. With the screw you then sets the distances from door to grid. Who here too much pressure builds up (along the lines of "solid holds better") will get later on but neither yet the door. The terminals are thus set certain limits. Especially on slippery surfaces can be a problem and you have to but may pick up the drill in order to use the grid sufficiently stable. Next disadvantage: if you have to exhaust the maximum dimensions of the grid (in this model 102cm) is the construction of unstable, because the farther are the screws on both sides out - shaky.
Another problem - which concerns in principle all terminal grid - is the bottom frame. Especially on stairs should be run through the installation once before buying, may here arise insurmountable stumbling blocks.
The daily use of the grid as desired. Our little one has cracked (pull latch and lift slightly) so far not the Parental Control, for adults it can be operated with one hand. When the grid is correctly adjusted on the screws, the door closes perfectly and not too noisy to the castle (and also remains closed). For if that is not so (read other reviews) - easily readjusted times. The grid is very stable, our son is off and shakes, it pulls herself up, etc. - no problem.
Conclusion: not to smooth substrates and below the maximum width of a perfect lattice door. All others should consider the purchase of another grid, because if you have already drilling you can save the base frame (tripping hazard)!
