An Editor's Guide to Adobe Premiere Pro (Paperback)
This is much better than First Pro CS5 CIB, and includes the fruit of much experience. It is presented as a book to help the transition from Avid or FCP to Premiere Pro, but for me, a beginner might start with this book and save the price of IPC.
