The classic of the 70s

Customer Review

Already on the immensely powerful (and somewhat undervalued) predecessor "Caress of Steel" had RUSH extensively experimented with vertrakten longtracks. In "2112", the band has managed to provide a 20-minute song with grandiose melodies, which have been on its own absolute hit potential.
And so is this album - not least because of this title song - the really big classics of the 70s and (together with "Fly By Night" and "Moving Pictures") one of the most important albums of the band's history.
"2112" - the song that started with the divine "Overture" and the hit "The Temples of Syrinx" not having a superfluous note to the nerve-racking "Grand Final" and before variety and beautiful melodies are teeming, this song has in the entire history of music set standards and influenced countless subsequent prog gods.
But not only the title song makes this album! The rest of the songs are milestones demanding rock music - not least because Neal Peart's awesome hintergrünigen Lyrics. Especially "A Passage to Bangkok" (Oriental Touch), the sad beautiful ballad "Tears" and the brilliant conclusion "Something for Nothing" belong to the best that any musician in the world has ever manufactured.
All this coupled with a musical class that has no equal and musicians who each of your instruments (including vocals) have a one-time recognition, was never there - and has since never presented again in this class.
