The Mark of the Demon oscillates between bed and bit-polar or even paranormal thriller. Sappuie story on a real investigation, a gripping plot and well built. Kara was followed over the tracks, we sinterroge on the name of the killer and his goal. Pure sadism? Thirst for power? Greater referred yet? From start to finish, the suspense is maintained and the identity of assassin is a real surprise! The demonic world created by Diana Rowland is well thought out, very credible and mysterious and arcane magic is well used, well integrated into the story.
Kara is an endearing character. An orphan, she was raised by her aunt Tessa, a powerful summoner. She is honest, straight and frank, she keeps her cool in all circumstances and do not break down easily leaves. But she is alone, terribly alone. She shuns human contact for fear of his secret and fanned her love life is a long journey through the desert. One understands then assign soon (too soon?) To the charm of the sublime Rhyzkahl This man, then this demon is a living temptation powerful, manly, handsome, he suffers and feels lust, impossible to resist! But Kara is also troubled by the agent Ryan Kristoff. Jai liked this character, tongue-in-cheek, brave and attractive, you feel the Kara interested in love or friendship, but who knows?
As usual for a first volume, The Mark of the Demon névite not certain pitfalls. Many of elements and characters are presented, it is a little too dense level information, it borders saturation sometimes! Certain phrases, thoughts or actions also repeated a little too often unnecessarily weighing down the story. But once past the first third of the novel, we are completely immersed in the story and therefore, one can not help but turn the pages, eager to know the result and the identity of the murderer.
A rather promising start for an original series, which comes out of the usual codes. A story without vampires or shape-shifter, this is quite refreshing and entertaining!
