Customer Review

I own the LG PF80g now for 4 weeks could test it extensively and would like anyone interested to share with you my experiences.

Vorneweg I would like to address some of the criticisms in the other reviews, which could be crucial for some readers buy yes.

Ceiling mount only tripod screw?
No, because in the four feet are M4 threaded bringing the projector can connect to almost any commercial or self-built ceiling mount.

Wrong Format view?
For me incomprehensible. The projector displays when properly adjusted and tape to the correct format in the correct proportions. Tested with BD, DVD and test images over 3! various playback devices (Oppo, Samsung and Panasonic BD BD).

Here my Einduck from Beamer:

Brightness:
In the lowest setting, the brightness for a 2-2.5 wide screen in a darkened room enough. I myself projiziere to a 2m wide, backlit, gray canvas (0.6 gain). For this, the brightness of the low mode was perfectly adequate. The fan is working here very quietly and is virtually imperceptible even in quiet scenes. In this mode, the projector on average consumed only 52 watts.

In medium mode, the brightness and the fan noise increases slightly. The brightness gain is noticeable. Black level is minimally worse, but better contrast. The image will be minimal greenish, so it must be corrected by the white balance slightly. The fan is now audible but still not disturbing and perceptible only in quiet scenes. Electricity consumption rose to 75 watts.

In brightest mode, the fan is very loud. I empand him already very disturbing. The light profit compared to the mean mode turned out rather weak. The White moves clearly into the green. The power consumption was 108 watts.
In brightest mode and image adjustment Lively can switch to peak mode which raises the brightness scene Bound and lowers. The maximum brightness increases again to some, but the fan is unbearably loud, as if the beamer wants to take off. The image quality suffers significantly in this mode. In my opinion, useless, at least look for films.

Image Quality:
De Beamer is already in default mode is a good high-contrast image. Slight corrections in the Picture menu vorrausgesetzt (color temperature to medium, contrast and brightness adjust something). Well suited for TV and DVDs.

If you want to enjoy a really good and life-like picture you have to switch to the cinema or Expert Mode 1/2. In these modes, all options are settings available. Even a full-fledged gamma equalizer hides under 'white balance' with which the gamma of IRE5-100 Votes are in increments of 5. This can make all details visible in dark scenes without the black level to influence negatively. I recommend the value of 5 IRE Stark, 10 IRE and 15 means easy to lift shadow detail to highlight something.
The colors are crisp and can be matched almost perfectly by means of the color management.

Kalibiriert shows the projector DLP typical black levels and excellent epitome contrast resulting in a very sculptural image. Grayscale in dark scenes can be seen in every detail. I recommend a calibration Blu Ray Disc to get from the Internet to exploit the full potential of the projector.

The focus is generally very good but you can tell the projector to its simple plastic lens on, the focus distribution is not uniform to 100%. Missing the last bit of getting into any of the 4 corners Especially with rehearsed from PC small fonts. When watching movies you but not at all realize that. Up close, unfortunately, show significant color fringing, which should also be on the lens.

Image enhancer, cinema freaks turn out all anyway. For those who like to use image enhancer, my opinion about the options:
SuperResolution takes almost imperceptibly into an image and can be used quietly. Edge Enhancer already makes for clearer error when the focus is set on 10-15, but does have its benefits in bad footage. Dynamic contrast can provide to low, medium possibly when you look a very bright blended film. In normal blended films disappear in middle and high but too many details and the image is too unnatural. Not make Truemotion in 24p movies to high, otherwise there will be pixels. Genuine cinema works only if True Motion is disabled. The noise filter can skip confidently. Dynamic color in the standard mode is a matter of taste. I have it to the TV picture spice on something deep.

* Important *
Make absolutely sure that the same color space is set in the projector and a player device. Incorrect settings disappear either many details in the dark and also near White or the projector interprets the signal for black as dark gray and very bright for white gray.

In Beamer, the option for the HDMI color space tucked under 'Black Level Low / High', incomprehensible why LG has opted for this misnomer. This option specifies not how dark the absolute black is !!! For namely the brightness control is designed in the Picture menu, this must be made by 10 points at high black level down.

The setting 'black level depth' is for all the signals that have a color space of 16-235, it must be set when is set in the setter RGB standard, HDMI standard, YCbCr etc.
Is the setter RGB or HDMI expanded expands set or is leaked from the PC / USB stick has the black level in the projector placed on high are (color space 0-255). Please do not confuse the first visual impression, because possibly sees the correct setting at first sight faded out as the wrong thing. Here then, the brightness should be adjusted downwards accordingly. Here is the best means of setting a test Blu Ray.
One can the right attitude also means normal Blu Ray review: 'Set black level depth'. Dark scene out looking. Adjust the brightness can be seen to all the details. Switching to 'black level high'. If high more details can be seen in black level this is to adjust the correct adjustment, brightness and enjoy. If not then relist deep and good.

RBE (rainbow effect):
I myself am übertempfindlich on RBE and therefore could not use DLP projectors with color wheel. Even when PF80G I could perceive it clearly, but I empand him only in white letters on a black background as a nuisance (credit, FSK communication). In scenes he was so discreet that he has not bothered even me.

In summary:
All in all, the PF80G a proper device. It surpasses my old Epson EH-TW420 LCD Projector significantly in all respects. I find the picture quality and also the black level comparable with my Panasonic TX-L47 ETW5 LED TV, with the Beamer details again significantly better showing in dark areas than the TV. Very beautiful are the multimedia possibilities. So I was able to wirelessly stream to the projector, for example, on my phone Youtube videos. The whole attitude lasted only 10 seconds. The Media Player came with all the movie and image formats clearly with whom I fed him, only a few audio formats of Ultra HD video caused him problems.
