Morten Veland, so most listeners know, was formerly a singer and guitarist in the gothic metal band Tristania, where he Fronter items with Vibeke Stene divided. With that band he delivered genre classics like the album "Beyond The Veil", but rose 2001. It quickly became his new project at the start, which both by name, as well as musically reminiscent of his past. The first two albums sound a lot Sirenia Tristania and point to who at that time had great influence on the songwriting, because Tristania sounded to exit Velands increasingly different. Velands new album (which he eventually wrote completely alone and grossed) does not sound quite as bombastic as in the early days, the big choirs come rarely to the train, and the orchestration is not so massive. In addition, it is noticeable that Veland itself no longer too often reaches for micro and leaves the main vocal work of his new Spanish chanteuse Ailyn. The whole thing reminds phased actually times to Nightwish, but Sirenia manage fortunately, maintain their own style. "The 13th Floor" may sound much more pop than the early works, but that's not even necessarily bad. Thankfully succeeds Veland also never completely slipping into kitschy climes; and that happens all too quickly in this genre. So you can be pleased with this new album, although fans of the first hour might grumble a bit.
