My Opinion

I went quite impartially serve up the book. I knew it was going to magicians and the rivalry between different classes, but what would really expect, I did not. Therefore, I had no extremely high expectations of the content. Nevertheless, I hoped a few exciting hours of reading, I also get.

The introduction to the book is well done. The author flaring at least not long and throws the reader almost immediately into the action. We learn from Zara's tribute, a girl named Swift, which had for Zara's love die with him. This event has a lasting impression and made sure that she has learned to hate her father Zara. I thought it was quite unusual for a youth book, in which the father of the protagonist is the real enemy that must be fought. Typically, the evil is an outsider, but a close family member, it is rather rare. The fact that I liked, and it ensures that Tribute apart from other children's books. Also created by the author worldview has pleased me very well. So believe the magician, that they are endowed by the gods with magic and chosen to reign over the non-magical people who are in the eyes of the mage less than animals. For centuries rages a fierce battle between the races, in the times the magician, once the non-magicians prevail.

Zara witnessed in the book by several changes that are described vividly and authentically. They initially lived in constant fear of their cruel father and the unwillingness to live their power magicians. Swift has never forgotten and therefore she is working secretly against her father, risking their own lives. The book is beautifully illustrated the personality of Zara, so you can quickly get an idea of ​​what it is for a human being. She was consistently sympathetic to me and I felt with her if she was afraid, was happy with her and hoped with her. I felt while reading the inner urge to take Zara in his arms, and I wish her all the best, because they never had it easy in their lives - despite their elevated position as a talented magician. From the magical society she is ridiculed because it is regarded as mentally weak, she is hated by the thieves and called demon. They seem to fit anywhere really. The emergence of the Makers Aidan leads them to finally act.

Sometimes I would have liked to see that a little bit more Zara flies off the handle. Many pages greets her suspicions and everything they can almost stoically endure. Even when she is assaulted, it does not respond. Especially Twiss Zara sets meantime too hard and I would have just wished that Zara the thief let it fly fiddles the opinion, would sometimes missed by me from her a slap, but nothing like that. All they had tacitly endure and constantly they had an understanding of the behavior towards her. That just made me annoyed some. Of course, I could understand that Zara wanted to win the thieves as allies and therefore, of course not allowed to act rashly, anyway. The budding love story between her and the Maker Aidan could not really convince me. You see maybe two, at most three times, and are already talking about love. Maybe it is because I myself am not 16 anymore, but everything went just too quickly. Especially since there are the characters Otter and Marcus, which I found much more fascinating than Aidan, what perhaps it is that I'm over 20.

Nevertheless, we learn in the book some interesting twists and receive important information that make you more. We learn more from Zara's past, her family, and even though some had to somehow guess already, so I think that the author so that certainly could surprise one or two readers. At the same time leaves me the end, although exciting and full of action, a bit unsatisfied. On the one hand the last time they had taken by Zara and Aidan very strange and I could not understand exactly why he was so funny to her (although the author has tried to explain it - I could not convince it), on the other hand Zara has an important finding and refuses, for whatever reason, to talk to the others about it. I think that's a bit silly. However, the cliffhanger is well built, so I am already looking forward to it when the second band Outcaste appear in March 2015.

With tributes the author is a rock solid entry in a trilogy (?) Managed and kindled the curiosity of the more. This worldview has pleased me very well, as well as the portrayal of the characters.
